New or potential homeowners in the Boise area often want to check out what Idaho has to offer. The views are some of the most breathtaking you will ever see, and the possibilities for adventure are as limitless as your imagination. Wherever you are near Boise, make sure to gaze upwards where you might be lucky enough to spot some of the amazing hot air balloons that frequent the Boise skyline.

When you’re looking for your next day trip from Boise, consider one of these spots:

1. Silver City

This is a historic mining town about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Boise. Many of the buildings elicit the feeling of going back in time to the days of the late 19th century and early 20th century. Visit the shops and attractions that include antiques, books, gifts, and a museum that takes you on a trip back to an earlier time.

2. Thousand Spring State Park

Thousand Spring State Park sits in the rugged Magic Valley. Fishing, horseback riding, and hiking are just some of the ways folks like to enjoy the beauty of the area. And don’t miss Ritter Island. Camping is allowed in some spots throughout the park, so check for prices and availability.

3. Bogus Basin

Less than an hour’s drive from Boise, Bogus Basin is the perfect place for a day trip all year long. Skiing and snow play are favorite activities in the winter months. When temperatures soar, taking a drive up to Bogus Basin will get your family away from the heat so everyone can cool off before heading back down the mountain.

4. Craters of the Moon

Craters of the Moon offers camping spots throughout the year. Lava Flow Campground is a hit for people who enjoy the rugged desert-like climate. The caves are an exciting excursion, but make sure to plan your trip when they are open.

5. Lucky Peak State Park

Lucky Peak is only about 10 miles out of Boise, and riding bikes to get there is part of the fun. Sandy Point Beach is perfect for picnics, swimming, and fishing. Some boats are allowed, and you can rent various watercraft. No pets for the summer, but they are allowed parts of the year.
